Announcements

The 2006-2007 school year has come to an end and was wonderful for all of us. Our end of the year celebrations/ceremonies for our Kinder, 5^th, and 8^th grade students was also a huge success. We look forward to seeing everyone back after a long and restful summer. Student’s first day back at school is scheduled for Monday, August 27, 2007.

Office hours during the summer will be from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Summer school will begin on June 4^th and will run from 9 a.m.-12 noon. June 26^th is the date for the last administration of the 5^th grade Math TAKS test. Grades 3 and 5 Reading TAKS test will be administered on June 27^th.

Principal's Message!

Welcome to our community and to an exciting school year of teaching and learning. We are committed to providing for you and your children with a quality education. We are fully staffed with highly qualified teachers. We are determined to improve student performance. Our teachers are focused, working harder and smarter. Based on a needs assessment at the end of last school year we have developed an instructional action plan for this school year. Part of this action plan included a new scope and sequence for each grade and subject. Benchmarks that are inline with the new scope and sequence. We have launched a new website that we enable our school to strengthen our both parental involvement and community building initiatives. Better communication with our parents and improving parental involvement will help build the foundation for a solid learning environment We are trying out a couple of new ideas. We have paired off teachers in 3^rd through 5^th grade to form teams. This teaming concept will lessen the main four subjects taught down to two per teacher. One teacher will teach math and science, the partner teacher will teach language arts and social studies. Schools that have tried this concept have had great success in improving student achievements. Lots of new things, good things, are happening at our school. We greatly appreciate your support and trust as we embark into another great school year.

Congratulations to our 2006-2007 Peer Mediators. They performed a "mock" peer- mediation at a P.T.O meeting on Tuesday, March 27^th. They described and demonstrated their skills in mediation and did an outstanding job. Our 8^th graders our anxiously planning their immediate future as they look ahead to High School. Several area public, private and charter High Schools participated in our annual High School meeting and discussed their individual schools with our 8^th graders in March. We also look forward to Career Day scheduled for Thursday, May 3^rd. Our 7^th & 8^th graders participate every year as they explore different options for their near future. Several area community members and parents are invited to address our students about their profession on that particular day. Parent Community

Parental Involvement is a key component to the success of any school. Community School Builder provides many tools to strengthen your parent involvement and community building initiatives.

Parents can subscribe to their child's teacher pages so any new items posted to the web site will also be emailed to subscribers.

Student Community

Students will always be up to date with school events through the school calendar, daily announcements, teacher pages, and much more.
Students can participate in their own moderated forums to share ideas, ask questions about their homework, or start their online community.
Students can also post comments about articles on the website, subscribe to their teachers pages, or even have their own pages if the school so chooses.

Teacher Community

Teachers will have their own pages that they can edit very easily or post new items to their pages that provide a powerful communication platform for fellow teachers, students, parents, administrators, and all other stakeholders.

Professional development is available for teachers through an online learning management system or they can produce their own tutorials or podcast for their students.

Community Schools

We provide the service of web hosting, site development, professional development, and customer support. The package that we put together for schools provides an extremely effective communication platform to help foster a strong school community!
