nail_thumb.jpg Congratulations to our 2006-2007 Peer Mediators. They performed a "mock" peer- mediation at a P.T.O meeting on Tuesday, March 27th. They described and demonstrated their skills in mediation and did an outstanding job.

Our 8th graders our anxiously planning their immediate future as they look ahead to High School. Several area public, private and charter High Schools participated in our annual High School meeting and discussed their individual schools with our 8th graders in March. We also look forward to Career Day scheduled for Thursday, May 3rd. Our 7th & 8th graders participate every year as they explore different options for their near future. Several area community members and parents are invited to address our students about their profession on that particular day. Please contact Mrs. Arshad if you're interested in sharing your exciting career with us!

The Parent Involvement Program and the Safe & Drug Free Committees have also been hard at work. They have scheduled for Nacho Estrada to entertain our 1st, 2nd, and 6th graders this year with his: "Don't let drugs make you a Dummy" presentation for the morning of Tuesday, April 24th. Please join us on that day if you can. Also scheduled in April is our 2nd annual Parent Night. Several community agencies and speakers will be here to present topics of interest to our parents and staff. It is scheduled for Wednesday, April 25th at 6:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there as well. The San Antonio Aids Foundation is scheduled to meet with our 7th graders on Wednesday, May 9th. The PIP has also assisted the Social Committee raise money for Teacher Appreciation Week: May 7th-11th. Look for notices to be sent home that month letting you know how you and your child can express your appreciation for our teachers.

The Student Council will also be sponsoring a couple of spring dances this coming April. Grades 3rd and 4th will enjoy a post-TAKS celebration on Wednesday, April 25th and grades 5-8 will enjoy theirs on Thursday, April 26th. In addition, the Student Council raises money annually to help with their own field trips as well as school school-benefiting programs such as the School-Uniform Fund.
